One of the best shows ever, it took the superhero genre and did something remarkable, it had so many meaningful and impactful moments that weren't filler or a set up for heroic tropes just for comic accurate nods and cheers but it took a necessary deep dive in relationships, acknowledging the setting and adapting to the most interesting stories ever. Forget the skyscrapers, upmarket city life. Superman & Lois take you home and give you an adventure that isn't dampened instead you find yourself in a space of fresh takes and passionate plays that bring out the characters very well.
Teen drama, marital matters, town turmoil, opportunists and more are fleshed out brilliantly. Season 1 brought the dark and delightful Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner) who was entertaining, he wasn't one dimensional, he showcased range throughout, Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) having a brother was intriguing and their relationship didn't have the cliche ending of no resolution, destined to be enemies. Season 2 had a mastermind villain who worked in the shadows only using her victims for her bidding which was different, a not so direct involvement that when she got screentime she was a menace but we feel she needed more room with the main characters, the inverse storyline was solid, the stakes were high and the build up was strong.
Season 3 was more emotional and focused on Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) who discovered she had cancer while going undercover as a patient at the hospital, this showcased vulnerability especially for Clark, who couldn't use his special abilities, saving everyone else but not able to when someone closer needs it, a crushing feeling isn't it? One of my favourite seasons because we saw less of the action and it proved this show isn't just about that, touching on heavy subjects and the writing is eye opening you see the dedication that the writers have. Kyle Cushing (Erik Valdez) is one character I feel you were supposed hate and see as a jerk but you find yourself rooting for him, wanting him to do better and be better. He feels like that fun but strict uncle you need.
Season 4 which is the end unfortunately! We'd love for this series to continue but hey.....
Season 4 had less character usage and a few departures like fan favourite Sam Lane (Dylan Walsh) and Sarah Cortez (Inde Navarette). Most of the characters didn't appear on every episode like previous seasons, which was sad, Smallville felt so empty at times. Their absence was felt. John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks) & Natalie Irons (Tayler Buck) were an awesome addition to the show, mostly featured in the comics and finally got the regular treatment providing the best tech and allies Superman never knew he needed.
Amanda McCoy (Yvonne Chapman) is a character that was well written and she was compelling, felt like a powerful character who was just in Lex's shadow, she was threatening and had the potential to be huge. We feel this was a missed opportunity. The fourth season was hard hitting with intense onscreen moments like the death of superman, the secret finally coming out and a revenge driven Lex who wanted to do more than even the score, using the infamous Doomsday to do his dirty work he proved to be a formidable foe who gave the Kents more than the usual takeover the world plot, this time it was personal and poisonous.

Overall the series offers the most sentimental and best versions of the Superman universe. Chad Coleman delivered as Bruno Mannheim alongside Peia. This show didn't use the usual villains or setting that's expected, instead they won't for a different tone, watching the pilot I was worried but by episode 2 I was hooked, I enjoyed the conflicts even though at times they went to extremes *clears throat* Jordan (Alex Garfin) often had the most antagonistic outbursts like a wildfire but he was a complex character who gave his parents a challenge. I was sad to see Jordan Elsass go as Jonathan Kent but Michael Bishop carried the role effortlessly as well, he was wonderful to watch.
We give it 9.9/10. Wish it ran longer than 4 Seasons.
