Avenue Music: Defiant Delivery by Leigh-Anne, Dead & Gone a Pop Protest....
Avenue Music: Leigh-Anne says Goodbye to Silence with Dead & Gone!
Every artist wants to be in control of their identity in music and not just be another industry product for sales with no true relation. As some songs are the ever so pleasant radio friendly pop, they tend to contain too much sugar, which makes them feel superficial, surface level offerings that offer a nice melody yet long-term it holds no weight.
Recently there's been a shift in music with songs that run for 2 minutes and are denied the classic bridge, it feels like "oh, we can't add more because the shorter the better especially for TikTok challenges" Leigh-Anne on the other is very defiant leaving Warner a record label she was part of since her solo career kicked off with an impressionable debut single to a choir connect love affair with My Love she seemed off to a solid start. Underrated rollup if you ask me, it had star quality but less stage presentation, the marketing was lacking.
After a debut EP which had some distinct not so usual cuts, it gave us a hint that this vocalist wasn't about to hop on what's popular to stay relevant, chase the charts and buzz the conversation. Instead she went in a different direction, risky and experimental. Stealing Love was acclaimed and it definitely stands out.
Fast forward to October 17. Leigh-Anne brings in Dead & Gone a gritty chanting: marching her way to freedom, the boastful beat and announcement like vocals are her calling and commanding for attention before a very sway and sass chorus that gives you an almost tropical, island beat that somehow grooves during this public protest.
The song is far from sweet, it drips with the confidence to challenge the narrative, system and she's not afraid of starting from scratch, while fans are worried, Leigh-Anne is setting a mark for herself. She has the pop catalogue as part of Little Mix, let her bring in these daring flavours. With her debut studio album set for February 20th 2026 and an accompanying headline tour it's sure to be exciting.
We score the song a 4.9/5 stars.
We would love to hear some Rock, experimental sounds on her album. Her album cover gives independence, rebel, gorgeous and unfiltered. Green has always been her colour so it's looking lush alright. Preorder Link
