We all love the word for word dip it like it's sauce on salsa? Is that cool or Nah? I tried I'll leave it to the pros. So yeah we're crazy about rap because those who do it have a unique flow that sounds like the new art of story telling, always has been that way. Local & International stars are passionate and producing music we always have on play.

How are you?


Keen9: I'm Good Bro.


Masulele: So tell us about yourself, who is Kat Keeng?


Keen9: well the official name in the industry is just Keen9, as for who Keen9 is, im 26 year old now living in BBR Acornhoek. i've been introduced into the entertainment world 2013 n i fell in love with everything from fashion, fashion shows, pageants n music


i have 2 places i consider home and have learned life lessons from its Heidelberg and BBR.... Me n my folks moved around alot when i was young.


Masulele: What inspired the name? What's the story behind it?


Keen9: lol well it came about me loving to everything at the best level possible from music, women etc😂 hence was called "King" 


Masulele: Interesting. And when it comes to fashion and music which one is your first love? Why?


Keen9: music of course RnB/HHP, Then i fell inlove fashion 2014 that when i learned alot within the entertainment world.


Masulele: And speaking of music, what message of sound do you want to communicate to your audience?


Keen9: love, peace, going for what you want n let go of what is not for you and create better n greater memories or moments in time coz time is all we have we choose what to do with it.


Masulele: And that's truly amazing. Making your music an artful experience. Who are your musical influences?


Keen9: From Bob Marley, Drake, prinice, Proverb, Prokid, Sia just no mention a few.


Masulele: How you describe your sound?


Keen9: Trapsoul, Hip Hop and R&B those are the sounds I mostly work on.


Masulele: Nice. Your dream collaboration? 


Keen9: Bryson Tiller n Tory Lanez most definitely a dream collabo.


Masulele: Why those two artists?


Keen9: they have different approach n writin capability that I resonate to.


Masulele: Interesting. What's that one song by another artist you wished was yours? Why?


Keen9: Don't by Bryson Tiller and Umbuzo by KLY. because the issues address are things i've went through n it well written n everytime hear these songs best believe repeat will be on ten times😂


Masulele: Wow, I'll definitely check it out. as a recording artist what do you think of where we are musically? Are you happy with this current direction?


Keen9: YES N NO, coz even fake or wannna be artists are flooding the internet making hard for people catch on to good music either THAN THAT we starting to make real money in the music in SA.


Masulele: True. Not everyone is in it with passion and talent.

What drives you?


Keen9: My everyday experiences of life n' relationships we create daily.


Masulele: And what's that memorable moment you had on stage?


Keen9: Was when I performed with ex gf of mine at a poetry n' jazz event it was amazing and that was back in 2017.


Masulele: Wow impressive. Sorry it ended thou. Matters of the heart can be quite shattering. Any artist or artists that you frequently collaborate with and have a strong bond that you play your music to before it is released?


Keen9: Reya Ray, uadTashMalikk my producer and the whole NewWorld Sonix squad.


Masulele: What is it like working with them?


Keen9: 🔥🔥🔥


Masulele: On Friday you're releasing a single, can you tell us about that?


Keen9: its basically a dancehall love song dedicated to bbr women but accommodates everyone... it's a joint collabo of me and Reya Ray.


Masulele: I look forward to hearing it. Definitely a jam every lady and everyone needs for their toast. Summer is approaching, can we expect a visual or an album or anything like that?


Keen9: Definitely an EP not sure when we gonna drop but its coming n more bigger things from there.


Masulele: Oh alright, we'll keep a close eye.

And can you what message do you have for those supporting your music?


Keen9: Stay true to your faith or belief if it helps you grow and dont hold on to toxic relationships.


Masulele: That's outstanding.
