The Sophomore year of New York's elite and their scandalous lives was a delicious affair of drama, glam and deceit. With a more fast pace, comedic tone, high fashion, cameos from global stars to OG characters who constructed a chaos we loved to see build up then fall on its targets.
Seasonn 2 kicks off with Monet De Haan (Savannah Smith) wanting to take her rightful place as Queen because Julien Callaway (Jordan Alexander) is playing it safe and isn't owning her crown. She sets Julien up in the worst way hoping this would spark an intense rivalry but like Luna (Zion Moreno) asks "Are You Really Going to Keep Playing Pacifist while Rome Burns?" JC wants to take the high road.. because she wants to be better all thanks to Gossip Girl who gave her a new perspective that leads to a shortlived team up.
Monet & Julien's feud starts off strong, is highly entertaining, a good dose of drama. Smart writing in the dialogue plus the delivery of the characters as they're different, Monet comes across as strong, vicious, stunning and intense. Julien is the calm, the rose who forgets she has thorns no matter how good she may try to be as it builds up it then dies down when they make peace with the season progressing, we're hoping for it to be reignited but instead a different direction takes place. We were looking forward to their battle for the crown, screw peace, we want war!!.

Zoya Lott ( Whitney Peak) does have her moments of shine, she looked so amazing, actually she stole the show on episode 10, that met gala scene is everything and with Shan (Grace Duah) as they break the rules and get in trouble. But I wanted to see more of her, she does have that IT girl factor, viewers enjoyed her love-hate relationship with Monet as it showcased their onscreen chemistry and the potential they had. Shan is a wild character, she's always daring in many situations at times you want her to cool down but she's fun to watch. Funny, Stunning & Wild. The teachers are also an interesting bunch we adore. From Wendy (Megan Ferguson) I love her eating scenes by the way. She should win an award "Best Onscreen Eater" or something. Their dynamic is fun I know everyone says they're creepy for stalking teenagers but are we all forgetting how the students threatened the teachers on a "We own the school" ? So Kate Keller (Tavi Gevinson) and co brought back Gossip Girl to bring about a necessary change. I also must add Adam Chanler-Berat who portrays Jordan is a hottie. Ok back to business, Kate finds herself feuding with Camille De Haan (Amanda Warren) I enjoyed it, I wanted more of it. I was hoping for it to be explosive but the dose we got was still good enough especially on Episode 4. Camille brought in different elements in one scene that I couldn't help but be impressed. She threatened Kate and made it funny but sink in.

Overall Season 2 was different and it had more glamorous drama and scandals. The locations, outfits, music and cinematography were stunning. Eli Brown who portrays Obie also had an interesting storyline which was a nice surprise. Luna La went from the supportive, always there friend to finally snapping and forget branching out, her seeds soon sprouted and she was a big deal. Zión Moreno is a really good actress, the cadence in her voice, mannerisms and energy are beyond beautiful.

The throuple were so much fun as they showcased each person's conflict and strength in the relationship till it fell apart and two were left standing, I guess Cupid Maxed out. Audrey Hope (Emily Alyn Lind) is an amazing actress and she brought it this season. Max Wolfe (Thomas Dohert felt more stripped of his fun side. He was on the emotional and I'm in love angle which was good, we got to see him vulnerable instead of raunchy and wasted. Auki (Evan Mock) is the cool kid, charming and good looking. A fan favourite, he had more lines and we were here for it.

Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) was a chef's kiss, she definitely brought in nostalgia. Chaos and some chilling moments onscreen. Wanted more of her. I'm sad Milo didn't make an appearance. She came in and crashed the party, talk about staying true to theme. It was an amazing watch even though Gossip Girl has its lows on Season 2, it has more highs and we are sad to learn that it got cancelled when it was just getting started. We hope it gets picked up by another streaming platform, because it has so much potential. A great cast and is drama we definitely need. Score: 9/10
