The Making Of Trap Baby!!

Welcome to Mzansi Avenue
Thank You for Joining Us.
How are you?

King Driez: I'm Good and You?

Aaron: Oh we're good thanks. So who is King Driez? What does he do?

King Driez: To those who don't know who King Driez is: King Driez is a Rapper/Songwriter & Sound Engineer.

Aaron: Impressive. If not the music what else would you be doing? And why that particular activity?

King Driez: If I wasn't rapping I'd be playing soccer😁...I love that sport the same way as I love making music.....the reason why I choose football is because I think football has the power to bring people together.

Aaron: It definitely does! How did you start making music, what inspired or who inspired you to be an artist?

King Driez: I wasn't really a fan of hip hop until I heard Lil Wayne's tracks on radio & TV...he's the one who actually inspired me to start making music.

Aaron: He's definitely a well accomplished artist with massive impact. Is there any song in particular you heard on the radio by another artist that moved you or influenced your career?

King Driez: Yeah... "Started from the bottom" by Drake that [song] really moved me, the message behind [it]....we all have to start somewhere in order to achieve our goals.

Aaron: Yup, there's always a starting point to a finish line. Who are your musical influences?

King Driez: Lil Wayne & Drake.

Aaron: Iconic Duo! What's your favourite thing to do when you get to the studio? Take us through the recording process...

King Driez: The first thing that I like to do when I get to the Studio, grab something to drink even a glass of water, is fine then I start rehearsing cause I don't wanna make mistakes while I'm busy recording.

Aaron: Nothing like preparation. You also write your own material, what's your favourite to pen down lyrically? The chorus? Verses or Bridge?

King Driez: I'd say the chorus 'cause that's [the] most simplest part. (Laughs )🤣

Aaron: Yup, a chorus is easy to do. What makes you different from other acts in the music scene?

King Driez: I think my style is different from the others and unique too.

Aaron: Your EP proved it. Let's say
You're behind the mic right now and you had to freestyle about yourself...what would bar coded facts would you spit?

King Driez: Honestly speaking bro I'm not really good at freestyling or spiting em' bars....I'm just that simple kinda rapper.

Aaron: Well you still move amazing on the beat! I heard you. Can we talk about Trap Baby? What inspired it? How did it all start?

King Driez: Trap Baby was more like an introduction to those who don't know me and what kind of music I make......and it was supposed to be an album [full] project but I couldn't make it happen cause I didn't have that time you know? Making an album could take you months and months or even years if you want your project to be perfect, I didn't have time I just wanted to drop something before the year (2023) ends.

Aaron: It definitely is a catchy and well crafted project. What was it like working with Blvck 12

King Driez: Eyy 12 is my brother man...he made me ,I know we still have a long way to go but I am who I am, all because of him, he took me & Eric Jr in. Gave us free beats, free studio sessions even today we're still a crew until time tell bro.

Aaron: Music brought you together and the shared passion solidified the bond, that's awesome. You also feature Eric Jr on one of the tracks, how did that come about?

King Driez: Me & Junior, we're close, we're always recording in the studio and I love working with him more than anyone else he's so talented, smart and versatile too... y'all might get a collabo tape from me and him next year 'cause we got so many unreleased tracks together.

Aaron: Looking forward to that, He's amazing. Sounds like magic, that abracadabra brilliance He got. You have a distinct voice which makes you standout and are highly compelling with your artistry....how did you develop your own unique style of delivery?

King Driez: I wasn't really like this, when I started rapping I was that kinda rapper with fast flows and rhymes (laughs)😹....but it eventually changed when I started recording more and listening to different artists from all over the world and I was like "okay I gotta come up with my own style this thing of me imitating other people's style and flows ain't really working I gotta be him" & the rest was history bro😹🔥🙌

Aaron: You definitely did that bro!!
Are there any leftover songs from the EP that didn't make the cut? Will you ever release them?

King Driez: Yeah a couple of them in the vault that I might release before the year ends😅....

Aaron: That'll be nice. The lead single Dope Boy, it's such a guitar driven record and full of swagger and rhythm...what made you choose it as the lead single?

King Driez: You know the day I recorded [the song] I was really down, feeling so low..... I don't know what really happened...12 (Producer) accidentally played that instrumental & I was like "yo can you please play the beat that you was playing right now?" I was really feeling it, I started writing and we recorded it, it came out as a banger.🔥

Aaron: Legit. Talk about unexpected creations. Your favourite track on the EP? And better yet, favourite lyric you've written?

King Driez: My fave song on the EP is the opening song "Trap Baby" The part were I was rapping in vernac and I wasn't really sure if it was gonna sound good 'cause that was my first time rapping in vernac.😹😹

Aaron: You did an incredible job. First time's a charm. You're in the recording booth and you hear a beat, what's the first thing you think about? The concept? Or you start taking form for the chorus?

King Driez: It depends on the beat.....if its an emotional trap beat then I gotta pour all of my emotions out on that beat but if it's a dark trap then we definitely vibing & flexing. (Amped up)😹💪

Aaron: Getting Turnt up! And the name King Driez? How did it come to be?

King Driez: My younger brother is one who actually gave me that name....I used to call myself Young Driez back in the day so I started gaining recognition and my lil' brother was like "you're big now everyone respects and loves you, you're a King now" King Driez and that was is it.♥️😭

Aaron: That's so beautiful WOW!! If you ever had to make a song about anyone who would it be and why?

King Driez: My momma.....I have a lot to say about that woman I'm just waiting for the right time bro.♥️😭

Aaron: Nothing ever beats a Mother's Love. What was challenging and fun about making the EP?

King Driez: It wasn't really challenging at all cause I'm actually used to this kinda work.....the funniest part is that I completed the EP in less than 2weeks, crazy right? (Chuckles)🤣🤣

Aaron: Woah! Say what? That's wow I'm amazed. If Trap Baby was a Movie, who would your co-stars be? Besides the Featured artists? And why?

King Driez: Madzo & Zyle....these are biggest acts in 1360 or lemme just [say] Bush as a whole they're are so talented, they have a loyal fanbase.

Aaron: They're building an unforgettable library of great music. Do you believe in industry related beefs? Do they pave way for great story telling in music or they're just a toxic way to make money and create divisions?

King Driez: That's clout chasing...people be using other people's names to gain recognition or to stay relevant that's stupid.😂🚮

Aaron: Definitely no clout chasing. Would you ever write a sentimental heartstring hip hop ballad?

King Driez: Yeah fo sure.

Aaron: Finish this line....You knew you were hot when?

King Driez: I knew i was hot when I got a call from RFM asking me if I'm available for an interview back in 2019. 🤣🤦

Aaron: That's Lit. Would you rather fall in love or have the longest charting number #1 single worldwide?

King Driez: Screw love bro (laughs)😂🚮.....No 1 single worldwide😭🙌

Aaron: You invested in the music. Well thanks for joining us and congratulations once again for a successful project. Hope to hear that album and vaulted bops.

King Driez has sent sweet message that received a play response and now with a growing audience, He'll be singing live on tour like no other. All the best and big blessings.
