Avenue Music: Tyla Gets Into The Latest Groove for Her Debut Studio Album Tyla+



Proving she's not a one hit wonder, her blazing the scene didn't stop with Water. Songs like Art and Butterflies showcased her range in terms of creative flow for the consumption of excellent and standout productions.

Her Debut Studio album Tyla (released 22 March 2024) has a billion streams and is very cohesive. She brings a fresh new take on the music industry as that South African flavour proves to have global appeal as she gives you a sense of artistic identity that sets her mark. Tyla has already found and established a sound that's distinct and marketable. Youthful and mature records that don't feel like the generic teen pop songs that we grow out of long-term. 

We kick off the deluxe edition (October 11th 2024) with Back To You the 3rd track on the album (there are many songs with this title) and Tyla brought her own element. It has this tranquil beat as she sings about an ex over an emotional high driven beat with pop and soulful tones. The opening verse truly makes a statement. My only issue is the bridge, why do most songs no longer have room for a bridge? It could've been done in similar style to Jade's on If I Get My Way by Little Mix. 

Push 2 Start is song of the summer, it has a sassy beat that is succulent and Tyla made the right choice with this one. It sounds like a song from a different era in music but still relevant in terms of placement. It's current and definitely gives you feet fantastic energy, with an elevated chorus definitely song of the summer hypnotic waist moving beats that are accompanied by breathtaking light and charming vocals. She sounds in control and fierce.

Shake Ah is a nod to the South African scene, playful party song to get down to. Expect some fresh and clean choreography it's definitely a laidback arrangement that has so much to offer not too busy with clashing elements. It appeals to the international scene without it coming across as an imitation of Mzansi Music, Tyla taps into country cuisine and serves it delicious. Featuring vocals from Tony Duardo. Optimist & Maestro. 

Overall the album definitely a playlist essential with bold, sentimental  and sweet sexy fun contenders that are well balanced, topping the charts and have longevity. We give it 9/10.
