Currently sitting on 9 episodes there's a solid story to be told, Ted Black is one character who works best with a more softer/delicate approach, he feels like someone who should be the heart of the show instead of insufferable. Always throwing tantrums and coming across as a cold pizza delivery full of flavour yet no warmth to further enhance his characterization. He needs an adjustment or he'll feel like a dessert version of Harvey with an unattractive personality and please get him out those suits, they're not helping unless it's because he's grieving and isn't making effort. Okay I was wrong, it was too early to judge, Ted now feels like he has his own identity, charm and impact to the story. At first I i couldn't connect but now, he's owning it.

Erica Rollins & Rick Dodsen seem to have history and their banter feels like it needs more layering as revealed they have chemistry and that feels more like a home run, it gives them an interesting and compelling case of why should we root for them. So far my favourite character is Stuart Lane he just feels like an organic character who is ambiguous and seems to care about Ted yet felt sidelined throughout their friendship till he finally snapped and is seen as the villain based on how it is translated by his former best friend. Episode 2 you don't get to see much of him and I was like "more Stuart please" as for Samantha I feel like she'd make a credible bad guy, she has the look and chills, someone who could shake things up the one who is able to counter, blindside and keep Ted on his toes unless she still has a soft side for him, she's like a tougher version of Scottie and is refreshing, very alluring.

What made the original suits so enjoyable was how dirty it was, nasty blows to Harvey & Mike, the throw a stapler at the wall enraged kind of drama and Suits LA is building up on that winning formula via a slow cooker, the scene between Elizabeth & Amanda felt like classic suits. I finally said Lester feels more fleshed out as a character I can now get involved in this story, an emotional connection was established. I'm still not a fan of the sets, they feel like the office space is abandoned, a simple pot plant would do (unless it's emphasis that they've been cleaned out). The bland take is off-putting but Suits LA is off to an interestingly good start.
There are many nods of approval and these characters need to have fun, they need to let loose. There's so much to explore, we wanna see a red carpet brawl, a reality show scandal, death on a movie set, celebrity impersonator cases. We're not looking for the old suits but this Spinoff needs its own identity and fresh take on things. Rosalyn isn't at all giving Donna vibes, she feels different and daring.
We need a huge fallout, epic confrontations...Ted went easy on Samantha. Stuart still cares and Rick now has regrets, Erica as a double agent would've been fun if there was a twist that she informed Ted first but all in all Suits LA is definitely on a far better picture than when we first saw the introductory episodes, now it's definitely standing out.
Stuart Lane has a really good sense of humour, I repeat Samantha has potential to be a very powerful character going up against Ted in future. Rick is fun and has an edge, Ted feels more comfortable and has his own identity that hopefully the Harvey comparisons will stop as mentioned above. Kevin is also a great addition, his friendship with Ted is really engaging giving some brilliant performances. Amanda & Rosalyn deserve to be part of the main cast.
A Season 2 is needed, there's so much story to tell. The friendships, the approach in writing and performance has been excellent. Even gave episode 6 a round of applause. Erica impressed me on episode 8 with the new HR guy. So far so good. Plus more Stuart Lane scenes please, he has many layers and a rich tone, strong onscreen presence.
We give it an 8/10.
Aaron Korsh, we sincerely apologize for quickly bashing what is now turning into a courtroom classic.
