Avenue Music: The Power Songs, Praise & Worship!
Avenue Music: The Power Songs!
My Picks. Hi Aaron here, I love music and usually over the years I've used it like a soundtrack to fit any kind of situation I was in, yes you could say I was like a musical movie character always ready to sing in the rain but not in a literal sense. With music we're able to soak in and immerse ourselves, especially if a song is God led you feel His touch, you're able to connect and Praise Him as He moves You. These are some of the songs that have had a beautiful impact as I listened to them.
1. Tear Off The Roof by Brandon Lake -
- One of the most Faith driven songs as it encourages you to believe in Jesus and call on to him, referencing the Holy Scriptures in Matthew.
It will definitely move you to act, it's empowering and one of my favourite songs ever! It's now my alarm tone, that's how much I love it, Turnaround takes second place. That "Out of the wreckage is coming a treasure" opening verse, man that's absolute fire, beautiful intensity.
2. Bonk'abantu by We Will Worship (Ft. Sinmidele & Mussie Fisseha)
- A very sweet song of affirming who God is and His unlimited abilities, it's a great singalong, it sounds like a triumphant celebration with a bright beat that meets the occasion. The vocal arrangements are a huge highlight as well.
3. Blanca - Greater Is He
- A ballad that assures you that no matter the challenges you come across in this life, God will always come through "And in His name giants will fall and in His name there's nothing we won't overcome this is our God"
Euphoria & Praise, acknowledging God and knowing how powerful He is, this song reminds you of the greatness of God which is incomparable.
4. Omemma by Judikay
Jesus the Owner of my Life - this verse is definitely soothing and hard hitting, bursting into epic praise, the Lord Jesus is our Lord and Savior, our Everything so with this one it's more of acknowledgement of who He is and honouring the Son of God who came in the form of man to redeem all of mankind that we shouldn't perish but Live. He called out Lazarus from the grave, gave sight to the blind, a man picked up his mat and walked, He forgave and provided for 5 thousand men.
5. Dependable God By Victor Thompson
My go to song, I literally enjoy its calming effect, you're able to meditate on the word of God. It's like a song that sounds like a therapy session where you look at the storm and remember the Goodness of God and how you'll make it when your trust is in Him. "now I'm standing here only because you made, now I'm standing here only because you made a way...." Doesn't it remind you of the red sea? What God did for Daniel and Meshach. Abednego & Shadrach? His Glory shines.
6. Not Ashamed by Jason Upton
- a friend actually introduced me to Jason Upton in college, which was so cool, he sent me the songs or I downloaded them I think, it was in 2019 and back in December I suddenly felt the strongest urge to load this song and it's such a song that has us affirming our identity in Christ, not ashamed to be His and also seeking His redeeming power so we may be useful in His Kingdom as He's the way to the Father. It has this classic sound to it which I adore.
There are loads of songs I listen to that celebrate He who Lives forever and give us inspiration by referencing famous scriptures, we believe that just as David was a musician, God uses many to write songs that carry His presence and power. What are your favourite Gospel jams? Do tell us!
