Avenue Lifestyle: Temptation's Isle is a Destination Death. Flee and Flee!
Avenue Lifestyle: The Wrong Call. When Sin comes Knocking.
This is an extension of a previous article talking about temptation, the wrestling that comes in which often has with a rude awakening that resistance isn't just a simple no and walk off, at times our opponents get in our way, the offer on the table keeps trying to lure you in for another bite or lucrative deal. Toying and tasking your emotions, a manipulative play that is often devastating. It's like a taunt on how weak you are, close to giving in so you can be a pleasurable trap that robs you of your joy.
It was sin that brought about condemnation over all mankind so imagine us continuing with it, unable to break free because we find it hard to let go, those urges to watch pornography, hit up that sneaky link as today's society calls it, to give in one more time to masturbating, it's always that voice that seems to mean well "just this once, give in today, then you won't ever have to" that's how addicts stay in the business of being supplied with drugs, your dealer can't move you away, no it's a way of ensuring you stick around longer; most of us didn't think we'd end up in bondage, gripped and unable to see a way out.
We start praying, we ask for help from God even Pastors thinking a laying on of hands will just end everything forgetting we also need discipline and to know our identity. A lot of criminals especially those who steal, could've been givers in God's Kingdom. The sexually perverse? Could've been people who'd do wonders in the children's ministry yet satan found a way to give them a disturbing identity which seems irredeemable in the eyes of man, yes society will never look at you the same and this is quite controversial.
If you see the potential of someone and turn their strengths into weaknesses you subdue them, making it hard for them to ever think they'd be capable of anything good. Temptation wants to call us away from God, in sin would we hear the Lord? Would we able to live or are we connecting with death which hides itself through dark desires that within the world seem only natural and okay?

Look at people who owe loan sharks and how some of their possessions get taken or those who owe the bank, repossessed property and etc. Satan always comes to collect, with receipts of you playing in his field. You're a child of God so if you're acting different to who you're supposed to be: what do you possibly think will happen? Remember Romans 8:14. Apostle Paul talks about beating down the flesh, wrestling with it, putting it in complete submission so it isn't in Control. The Holy Spirit should be in control as in Galatians 5:25. If you suddenly get a 'boner'/ erection as a man and it takes you into an explicit site, to a casual hookup or jerking off then you need to break free from this. Sin is said to be sinful in the book of Romans, it's quite evil because it can grow and take charge of the person, with the person unable to resist. (Romans 7:16;25) Thankfully God is there to rescue us through Christ our Savior who defeated sin and death. Yet we are informed to preserve our freedom in the book of Galatians, we can't keep on sinning (1 Peter 1:13;16 & 1 Peter 4:1;6) we need to be able to resist, we have the Holy Spirit who is our Advocate, Comforter and Helper. God is able to set us free and we can resist the devil. By being obedient to God, taking up our crosses daily, choosing Christ and not ourselves nor the world. Then when the evil one comes in various forms of deception, temptation we will only say no and keep our eyes on the prize, On God not moved by anything else.

(Sin imprisons you after pushing you to indulge in some pleasure. It always reveals its true nature during the penultimate episode.)

(A slice of condemning cake is all it takes. It welcomes you in and tastes so good you can't resist till the charges come afterwards and you realize you've been played in a twisted game of sinister sweetness)
We confess it is no longer I that lives but Christ and yes indeed, with the famous saying of What Would Jesus Do? We can't use our human knowledge anymore because we have the mind of Christ. We can't associate with old and former habits but be renewed and transformed by Christ, we are new creations. What once was, is no more. Don't look back, instead be defined by He who loves you and called you out of sin by announcing in the scriptures "Repent and turn away from your sins for Kingdom of God is at hand".
It's easy to be caught up in desires of the flesh, they seem to be energizing and draw you in for more yet sin is trying to take control, many find themselves conforming to this world, using others as an instruction manual which often has them slipping into deadly ditches, pitiful pits but Jesus Christ is the blueprint, Apostle Paul said "Imitate me as I imitate Christ" we should then strive to be Christ-like. No more wanting to be modelled after celebrities or parents but like our Priest Forever in the order of Melchizedek: Christ. Who was made perfect through suffering and is sitting at the right side of God.
We will be like houses built on rock, satan won't get the desired results. Your thoughts won't lead you to sin, a mere kissing scene on TV won't awaken or spring up sinful passions. Looking at a woman or man won't have you going astray, your mind will instead be full of thoughts pleasing to God. (Psalm 19:12;14)
Turn to Christ and ask for His help in turning away from sin because He has the power. We are God dependant so let's not try to accomplish anything out of our own will, we can only get so far but if God is at work in us then sin won't have any room or role in our lives. Let us keep away from what destroys and seek God who gives Life and life in its fullness. (John 10:10)
We can't trust ourselves, trust God to take you out of that situation. Confess and seek God's mercy, than to keep quiet, living in sin that eventually gets out of control, some sins lead to death as it is written. Let nothing of this word be a god to you. Let only the Creator who is the Potter and we the clay, finish the work He started. Be born again as in John 3 and live as children of God. Seek not only the Kingdom but its righteousness as well.
I've had my fair share of temptations, I literally thought a one or two day resistance would be it but finding that in my daily walk I'd have to constantly remind myself that I'm no longer one who is still in the former life, denying myself any pleasure that took me away from God. Whether it was sexual sins such as masturbation, pornographic consumption, lustful thoughts or negative thinking....with God a new nature takes form in us but the past will come knocking trying to see if you will befriend or resist. Many things outside of God will try to steer you in a different direction but keep in tune with Jesus Christ. Listen to no other voice. (John 10:16)
So when anything comes disguised as good, don't just use your own comprehension or human analysis but seek God's counsel like David did before going for battle or making an important decision. Ask to see the true nature of things, to discern so not to be tricked. Labels mean nothing, uniform can be worn by everyone with a claim of being somebody yet it comes down to is it of God or not and remember who you are. Let it only be God.
God Bless.
