Entertainment Avenue: Beyond The Gates - Delicious Daytime Drama with Hayley & Randy
Entertainment Avenue: Soap Shocker - Cunning Cousins - Hayley & Randy after the Big Bill, He's been Served!
Hayley Lawson Hamilton portrayed by the stunning Marquita Goings has been having a love-hate relationship with the BTG viewers since her first appearance as Bill's homewrecking wife or should I say; childbride courtesy of Dani Dupree? who had to finish off a marriage that was on life support so she can make herself the new Mrs Hamilton. In her own words she claims "I fell in love, it just happened" well nobody bought that, it just wasn't believable no matter how genuine Hayley tried to sound and seem. Dani (Karla Mosley) saw right through her but since she was positioned as a bitter and scorned ex, who'd listen to her when she sounds jealous and crazy? Especially when her family wanted her to just move on.
As Naomi's (Arielle Prepetit) former best friend, Hayley was close to the Duprees and her betrayal was hard hitting as they keep things ice cold, there's no sign of thawing at all, it's a deep freeze. No matter the attempts to make amends, it seems no one believes she's sorry, no longer close to Derek (Ben Gavin), Ashley (Jen Jacob) and Jacob (Jibre Hordges) she's completely isolated plus the country club showed their loyalty to Dani with Bill having to use his charms in order to soften up his ex so she can give in to his demands.
Marquita seems to be having fun with this role because her scheming is delicious, the way she goes on about doing things shows just how calculating Hayley is, a mastermind who knows how to cover her tracks and provide clarity that keeps up the ruse. Especially the reveal and connection to Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) who is her cousin. These two are as thick as thieves operating in plain sight at times planning Bill's (Timon Kyle Durrett) demise for a huge payout.
The recent episodes made me enjoy Hayley even more as a character on the show, the duality is award winning. She has a way of making her victims believe she's not at all a threat until she strikes and you realise pretty can be poison. Her scenes with Randy showcase a sinister, sarcastic and cold version of Hayley you wouldn't wanna mess with. A true personality shifter, able to switch and play the card in order to seize the opportunity.
This storyline is a pleasant surprise and very compelling. Most viewers longed for this, hoping Hayley is only on a mission to secure the bag and guess who found the keys to the gates? She's one villain no one ever sees coming even if she's in red or wrapped up in caution tape, you'd somehow fall for her because she's that good even though Dani seems to be a threat that just won't stop aiming for her man, always interfering with a connection that just won't die.

I had a good laugh when she failed to maintain Bill's attention and he was instead focused on his ex wife, for a man she doesn't love, it definitely drives her insane to see him like a moth to a flame. A big shout out to Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) who is also a character I hoped would get more screentime, he definitely has the edge and presence. He needs more enhancement to be a threat that not even Joey Armstrong could see coming, because he seems like a wildcard and probably is playing henchman yet the way he negotiated his way back into Joey's good books, says we are dealing with a man who knows how to play the long game and eventually launches a hostile takeover, a blindside.
Hayley & Randy have us excited for the next episode and kudos to the writers and the excellent stars for such an engaging performance. They have chemistry and their banter is such a joy.
Things we'd like to see:
(We can only dream and we'll let the writers do their own thing)
Hayley vs Dani a proper showdown with the real Hayley, because there would be no holding back
We can't wait for when Bill finds out, everybody, especially Dani was right.
Joey Armstrong realizing Randy has dirt on him that could send him away for a long time, a dead man's handle. A "I did it for Doug" moment.
Kat owes Hayley so wondering how everyone will take it when she endorses her not forgetting how everyone wants Kat to forgive Eva. *chuckles*
