Entertainment Avenue: The Kubeka Family On Scandal!
Entertainment Avenue: The Kubeka Family On Scandal!
The Good Family with a Bad Son & They Crashed into Bigger Troubles they never Saw Coming.
They debuted in September after massive promo previews and official posters. A star studded family arrived in the world of Bad Blood & Beauty. The family consists of Vukile Kubeka (The Man Of The House. Opportunist. The Unfaithful Husband. Smooth Talker & Business Orientated. Portrayed by Fana Mokoena) Nomvula Kubeka (The Mother who'd do anything to protect her loved ones. She sees a wolf in sheep's clothing from afar. Don't mess with her. Portrayed by Silindile Nodangala) Joseph "JoJo" Kubeka (The Moral Compass of the family. Too good to confess to, he may just turn you in. Portrayed by Melusi Mbele) Duduzile Kubeka (A Daddy's Girl, Heartbroken & Highly Ambitious. Portrayed by Sihle Ndaba) Zenzele "Zen" Kubeka (Lover of disaster, maybe dynamite is dessert. Portrayed by Robert Mpisi) not forgetting Mbali Kubeka aka Lady M, Jojo's wife (Power hungry, deceitful, sneaky & always ready to seize the moment, gorgeous too. Portrayed by Nolwazi Ngubeni). They crashed into the scene with a major bang and became instant villains among viewers except for JoJo. Their debut episode was acclaimed as we had heart wrenching, jawdropping moments. They proved to do anything to protect one another while showing that when moments of shine presented themselves, they wouldn't hesitate to get in each other's way. Sibling rivalries, a daddy's girl, unappreciated family members, dirty-delicious affairs (featuring Rachel portrayed by Wendy Gumede) , scandalous secrets and a lot of lies that may set one's world on fire. Definitely a lot going on.
My only concern with this family is how they seem to live in their own universe. They hardly interact with the characters we've been watching for years on screen. Plus they're always at work or home. We'd like to see their social lives. Nomvula with stockvel ladies or something... Zenzele hanging out with his friends, leading then astray or living recklessly. All they do is work and family if not trying to save the day or cover up something. JoJo and Dintle (Portrayed by Mapaseka Koetle-Nyokong) are shipped by fans, after their storyline paused they had no more contact. My biggest disappointment is with Dude portrayed by Sihle Ndaba her debut episode was everything. Her outfit, presence, hair and vibe served mean girl energy, she was stunning. I loved it, then she started having a storyline that didn't make her shine out of that, she was vulnerable. I was looking forward to her but now she seems soft, her storylines have been good just that we want mean Dudu back, she was fun unless she'll be unleashed after the truth comes out about what Mbali did to sabotage Dudu (using Lera portrayed by Zethu Dlomo-Mphahlele and we all know how that turned out). Another issue is the mansion. It's too bright and warm that it takes away the intensity needed at times while visually stunning; darker tones would compliment this family. There's so much to do with them. We've warmed up to this bunch and their progress is enjoyable TV content as they have to deal with (Mukuna...call him the Charming & Dangerous. Portrayed by Joe Kazadi). This storyline is also redeeming the family who knows they may just strike a deal with the cops to save Zen from prison. You never know when Caiphus (Portrayed by Michael Mabizela) may snap and want out.
So far their current storyline is popcorn gold. We're loving it but we hope they interact with other characters or new characters are created that connect with them. We'd love to see new check ins (Restaurants, Bars, Gyms? Or something). Scandal! is one of the longest running soaps on etv and it said goodbye to a lot of characters while it made room for new. We cannot wait to see more of this world of juicy drama, shots of vodka turning into bullets and one is wounded, this one's for the tabloids...The New Voice & Daily Skinner are ready to report. Catch Scandal! Weekdays on etv @19:30
Repeats @12:00 midday.
