THEME: THE SPIRIT YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN!

TEXT: [NKJV] 2 TIMOTHY 1:7

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."







At new birth, every believer receives a Spirit and this Spirit is the Spirit of God. This Spirit received at new birth is not a Spirit of fear but of power, of love and of a sound mind. This Spirit is not a Spirit that will make you remain as you are but a Spirit that will bring about your transformation. The Holy Spirit is a Spirit that gives you the strength to be courageous. Not many people are courageous and not many people are powerful. This life is ruled and governed by courageous people and powerful people. If the righteous are not bold enough to rule, the unrighteous people that are bold will rule and that's exactly what some countries have been going through for years. As a believer, you need to be bold, powerful and have a sound mind. When you are bold, powerful and have a sound mind, you will be one of the most unstoppable persons on earth.


According to the focal scripture for today's devotional message, it reveals the Spirit that God has given to every believer at new birth. As a born again believer, you have been given a Spirit and that Spirit is not a Spirit of fear but of power, of love and of a sound mind. This Spirit that has been given to you, you must yield to Him so that it can influence you to exercise power when necessary, express love at all times and experience sound mind in every situation. God needs you to live out the full potential that is in His righteousness. Righteousness comes with power, love and sound mind. As a believer, you have the righteousness of God and if you are conscious of this righteousness, it will cause you to walk in power, walk in love and operate with a sound mind.


As a believer, you don't only need power and love to be a true believer. You also need a sound mind to be a true believer. When you have a sound mind, it ensures that your thoughts are governed by God's righteousness. If your thoughts are not governed by God's righteousness, the devil will always mess up your thoughts with guilt and condemnation. As a believer, you have a Spirit within you and this Spirit will make it easier for you to exercise power over the enemy, to express love to everyone and to have your mind focused on Christ. When you have a sound mind, the devil will not be able to distract you. With the Spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind, the devil cannot cripple you. Rather, it is you that will cripple him and render him useless.







PRAYER

Father, I thank You for the revelation of Your Word and the gift of Your indwelling Spirit.

Father, I am grateful that I am not a slave to fear, but a recipient of Your power, love, and a sound mind.

Father, I refuse to be crippled by the enemy. Help me to yield daily to Your Spirit so I can walk in the full potential of the authority You have given me.
