 Pride Month 

Most of us have difficulty accepting something that we do not fully understand and therefore act or react in an unusual manner. As much as we were celebrating Youth Day not so long ago, it would seem awkward if people of colour saw young white people partaking in the celebration of youth day because of the memory attached to the celebration. Even though we are trying to take a different perspective, it is still uncommon for such to happen.

The very same Youth Month also happens to be Pride Month, also another controversial concept that South Africans need to come in terms with. The primary idea for Pride Month is for differentiated individuals to come together in their differences and be united as one. This would of course include race, age and gender differences, however a more concentrated focus has been given to gender differences. Not so long ago, we spoke about different genders, the LGBTQI and more in detail. It's no doubt that our country is still divided when it comes to issues of the LGBTQI... 

Pride Month is aimed at the acceptance of differences of sexual orientation. There's so much more that we may not understand about different sexual orientations, especially if we observe from a distance. One would give a Christian perspective, but that would just be starting a war. Putting all differences aside, let's allow every person to be who they are, how they are and they want to be with PRIDE...

After all, LOVE IS LOVE...
