Avenue Music: Emails I Can't Send (Review)

Avenue Music: Emails I Can't Send by Sabrina Carpenter

July 15, Sabrina Carpenter released her long awaited 5th studio album which contains the singles: Skinny Dipping. Fast Times & Because I Liked a Boy. Different arrangements, mood and laid-back tones, sexy/sultry electric and records that make you wanna head to the country and breath in the fresh air and bask in the sun not forgetting the dark moments addressed on here. Let's get to it.

Fast Times was listed at #2 on the best songs of 2022 so far...by us of course. It's such a charming record, memorable and elegant. James Bond this is your new theme song.

Because I Liked a Boy serves as the third single. With an arrangement that is different and grows on you as she sings her heart out about a love triangle she got bullied for, goes back to speculation that she's the blonde girl Olivia Rodrigo mentions on the first verse and this sparked an online wildfire when Carpenter released Skin which was considered as a diss track as many referenced the lyric "Maybe Blonde was the only rhyme" Sabrina has dismissed these claims and on this stunning and cinematic record she finally addresses the start and the aftermath. It's so rich and impactful.

Vicious offers a groovy and classic sounding arrangement while lyrically touch on a lover who acts like you never existed. "You said it was Me & You for life now you're acting like I kinda died" hard hitting lyrics and soothing beat.

Decode is delicate, heartfelt and we can all relate to how she feels about the whole situation. Overanalyzing and retracing your steps, trying to make sense of everything. This pop record can break your heart because it's so vulnerable and it hurts so much. Beautifully written. You're Good At Impersonating Someone who cares.

Nonsense feels like a sister to 2019's Pushing 20 but is more aggressive and carries a new serve of swag over a sparkling crinkly beat that's refreshing to the ear and sets a good time.

Read Your Mind takes you into the disco bliss of it all. A fan favourite that many say should've been the lead single. It's fresh, a burst of fun and charming. Memorable and strong offering. It'll fill the dancefloor alright.

Tornado Warnings is more laid-back, it's so lush sounding and bubbles to taps of a chill thunders clap, as she sings about lying to her therapist. It showcases Sabrina's adaptability vocally and sonically on how she tells and carried a story without getting lost in melody.

Sabrina sounds like she had so much fun creating this record and that it's so personal. This is a step up from Singular Act II. She came back with something fresh for her fans and we score her a 10/10. It's balanced. Smart. Real. Raw. Flirty & Romantic and Personal. There's not a song on the record that feels out of place. It's a must have record with strong writing and sounds plus the vocal delivery is on point. She's fun on some records, hurt on some records. You get the emotions. She was never disconnected. Now that's music.
