Star Of The Month: Young Naughty ZA
Star Of The Month: Young Naughty ZA
Welcome to Mzansi Avenue. This month, yes women's month, we have the sensational and inspiring Young Naughty ZA who makes music with meaning and wants to remain true to sound and writing. Here's what went down.
McKing: Welcome to Mzansi Avenue, thank you for joining us. How are you?
Young Naughty ZA: I'm fine thanks and you?
McKing: I'm good thanks. Who is Young Naughty ZA and when did his love for music start?
Young Naughty: Young Naughty ZA is an upcoming rapper from Mpumalanga(Bushbuckridge) whose real name is Naughty True Malope. I fell in love with music since September 2016 to this day.
I am still into it,I'd say I am married to the music game.
McKing: Wow, How would you best describe your sound?
Young Naughty ZA: I believe my sound is unique compared to all the music I've listened to. It contains all the different kinds of moods, it's vibey, sad, awake and motivational.
Mcking: That's good, being aware of your music just shows how much involved you are in your artistry.
Who are your musical influences?
Young Naughty ZA: Tupac, Malome Vector and Emtee.
McKing: Those are great artists.
Which song did you enjoy making the most?
Young Naughty ZA: Dankie Groetman feat Ven6m & bonaeza
McKing: It's one song I'm sure everyone will check out after this.
How did the name Young Naughty ZA come about?
Young Naughty ZA: The name Young Naughty ZA, there's nothing special about it, it's my real name with a touch
of "young" because I had no time to stress about names, whereas my real name is unique on its own.
McKing: I see, you just went with the flow. What's the writing and recording process like of each song? What space do you get into?
Young Naughty ZA: For me to end up with a full song I just don't go to the studio and record nah, I sit, think, plan and
check how many of my fanbase can relate to the song I'm about to drop for them.
McKing: Interesting, you're making music that others will relate to.
What challenges have you been met with as an independent artist?
Young Naughty ZA: Financial issues, lack of promotion, poor management and the growing process is slow yet I strive
everyday I don't give up easily.
McKing: That's good. Did COVID-19 impact your work? How and did you overcome it?
Young Naughty ZA: Covid-19 had a big impact on my work, no more events, couldn't have proper studio sessions and luckily it never demolished my fanbase, I kept giving my fans locked with my music on my social networks so they do not lose hope. I maintained that this will all come to an end and well it did, now I just served
them with Issue J Mixtape.
McKing: What can we expect from you?
Young Naughty ZA: More music, versatility and as for now y'all can enjoy my Mixtape (Issue J Mixtape), imma keep pushing it and take features and maybe drop one or two singles. Change is what you can expect from me with more features.
McKing: We're rooting for you. What makes you stand out from the rest?
Young Naughty ZA: I do my music in a different way from them,I don't focus more on money, girls and cars like I don't rap about things I haven't had in my life I rap with reference to what I see everyday of my life.
McKing: More of a realistic approach. Who would you like to collaborate with Locally. Nationally & Internationally? Why?
Young Naughty ZA: Locally I'd like to work with King Killa & Tumzar Van Kotsi because we can do a song that will top up music charts of Bushbuckridge.
Nationally I'd work with Emtee, he got this versatile in him he does trap and he can even jump
to a rap beat and do wonders.
International I'd work with Tupac but then it won't happen RIP TO THE THUG!
McKing: I'm sure one of these days you'll collab with some of those artists. What would you like to say to your growing fanbase?
Young Naughty ZA: All i can I say to them is that I won't change up on them, I'll be real as always and I'll keep giving them good soulful true music as before and I want to thank them for their consistent support.
McKing: Ever had clashes with peers in the game? Or it's been straight up camaraderie?
Young Naughty ZA: Never clashed with one, I've been running this ship straight I had no time to entertain beefs and
all. Surely some of my peers had an issue with me but I've seen em.
McKing: Who did you enjoy working with mostly?
Young Naughty ZA: Enjoyed working with Black Boy.Ven6m. DJ Touch and others, can't mention them all but I enjoyed working with everyone because they are full of versatility, energy and they are so
influential.
McKing: Which song by another artist do you wish was yours and why?
Young Naughty ZA: Malome Vector Batho Ba mona
The track has a lot of meaning behind it and I'd say each and every person can relate to it, I
could have slayed it with versatility words and flow.
McKing: Nice one. Would you ever experiment with other genres of music like Pop? Alternative?
Young Naughty ZA: Yes I'd go for them because as a Musician you should explore different genres, because one of the good coming days I will be an international artist and I will be working with lot of
artists who play with different genres.
McKing: Now that's great. 5 things you can't go a day without?
Young Naughty ZA: Cannot go a day without playing my track "Dankie GroetMan", secondly can't pass a
day without doing follow up on my mixtape, thirdly looking for more musical opportunities,
fourth: I make sure I am always active for my follwers and lastly Praying.
McKing: Your favorite song right now?
Young Naughty ZA: Young Naughty ZA -_Better Dayz
McKing: Your favorite lyric out of all the songs you've released?
