Entertainment Avenue: Shows That Shouldn't Have Been Cancelled

Entertainment Avenue: Shows That Shouldn't Have Been Cancelled

This week on Entertainment Avenue we talk about the shows that didn't deserve the big boot.

1. Dynasty On The CW

Starring: Grant Show. Sam Adegoke. Elizabeth Gillies. Elaine Hendrix

It's such a good show, smart, witty and brilliant writing that you can't help but appreciate. Yes Season 1 is the blueprint but this show deserved so much more. It's a guilty pleasure we enjoyed. 5 seasons isn't enough. The Carrington & Colby drama is something we are going to miss. As for Fallon & Liam? True romance, lighting up our screens. We hope someone somewhere out there will revive this show because it was just getting more and more interesting.

2. Durban Gen

Starring: Nyaniso N Dzedze. Nelisiwe Sibiya. Mike Dlangamandla.

It was highly anticipated and premiered to massive reception but overtime fans and critics started questioning the storylines as they seemed to lean more on romance and comic relief moments. Viewers wanted hectic and intense ER procedures and spine chilling moments in the hospital but they felt like it was underwhelming. We believe with a new direction Durban Gen would do well instead of being cancelled. It has a stunning set, amazing actors, writers too.

3. Dollface

Starring: Kat Dennings, Brenda Song & Shay Mitchell.

It's such an empowering feel good show that you can't help but love. Imaginative, hilarious and friendship goals. We need more shows like this with a lighter tone. Sometimes you don't want chaotic drama but something more intimate and heart melting, something you can relate to. 2 Seasons just isn't enough y'all.

4. Isidingo : The Need

Starring: Jo Anne Reyneke. Lindani Nkosi. Anga Makhubalo. Katlego Danke. Rosemary Zimu.

It's been awhile now but come on!! They cancelled the show while it was at its peak. An all star cast, you didn't wanna miss an episode. Fan favorite characters like Lungi Biyela. Lincoln Sibeko. Morongwa & Nina Zamdela set a memorable tone we can't help but miss. Can't we get a Netflix special? Limited series because we miss the deep and the drama it offered on our screens.

5. High Rollers

Starring: Nqobile Nunu Khumalo. Carine Rous. Sive Mabuya. Rolanda Marais. Thaphelo Mokoena.

Created by Rous House Productions. It was one of the most outstanding shows on TV. Competing with etv's long running Soap Opera: Scandal! High Rollers was well written and deserved better. It got cancelled when it was on a HUGE roll. We saw Sive Mabuya's range as an actress, from portraying Stevie to Xolile on Scandal. That's massive. You had David & Danny's building relationship. High Rollers had all the right tones but got the boot. It was so unfair. We miss it. Ooh how could we forget Tallulah portrayed by Hayley Owen Waters

6. Batwoman

Starring: Javicia Leslie. Rachel Skarsten. Megan Tandy. Camrus Johnson.

It started off to mixed reception and with each season it got better and better. With characters like Alice aka Beth Kane being popular among fans. Her story with Ocean (Nathan Owens) truly beautiful. She's one villain everyone found themselves rooting for, did I say everyone? Almost everyone. Season 3 felt a reset and the start of new troubles. We looked forward to a reformed Alice. Ryan being reunited with her family and discovering who her father is. The return of Kate Kane & More. There was so much to do but instead this show got cancelled. Couldn't they move it to HBO max? It's sad to know we will always wonder about how Season 4 could've been like.

7. The Baker & The Beauty

Starring: Nathalie Kelley. Victor Rasuk

Another feel good show that shouldn't have been cancelled. It's something everyone needed during the global pandemic. It's romantic, funny, a breath of fresh air. It ended on a cliffhanger and we want to know how Season 2 would've been. This show inspired me back to love and to create a vision board all thanks to Noa & Daniel. It's such a good show that was done wrong.

8. Promised Land

Starring: Bellamy Young. John Ortiz. Tonatiuh.

Are you kidding me? Like you can't be serious right now!! This show left your jaw dropping at the end of each episode. Drama for centuries, secrets, betrayals and a lot of family feuds. It served a fresh glass of wine you couldn't afford to miss a sip. We were hoping it would carry on, on Hulu but unfortunately it got cancelled. We're so disappointed. This was good TV.

These are some of the shows that shouldn't have been cancelled. What are your thoughts? Join in the conversation.
