Entertainment Avenue: Gossip Girl on HBO Max.
"Reputations will be Shattered."
The Power of Social media, it's crazy what a tweet, a Facebook post, Instagram story can do. It can influence you, capture you, have you talking, ruin your life or make you breakout and Gossip Girl voiced by the eloquent Kristen Bell is out to get you, you better not be spotted doing something bad or having a bad hair day, wardrobe malfunction, cheating or you'll be the conversation and people love to talk about anything or anyone even if they don't know you.
A continuation of the hit 2007 CW series with an all new feel and faces of the elite in New York. Fashion, Power, Influence, Privilege, Drama and the Gossip of it all. The first Season kicks off with a sisters reunion portrayed by (Jordan Alexander as Julien Callaway & Whitney Peak as Zoya Lott) the half sisters who want to know each other but Julien's squad seems not to like Little Z as Gossip Girl calls her and this leads to tension and a rivalry between the two is always teased, it builds up but never takes off and the student's massive power play threatens the teachers who end up using Gossip Girl to take back the power and fight back with Kate Keller (Portrayed by Tavi Gevinson) as the leader of the pack. Overall the pace is fun and enjoyable, the music is awesome and the setting is more of a bit dark and has this serious tone to it. Like Audrey & Kiki's (Portrayed by Laura Benanti) situation. It feels more like gloomy glam that'll have you wanting more. The first half started heating up more with Episode 6 which was my personal favorite and I enjoyed the performances of characters like Audrey Hope (Emily Alyn Lind) her tantrums were hilarious and entertaining drama. Gossip Girl's word play is smart, charming, mysterious and beware what you do because I may be watching you and you're damn right I'll post about it. While Gossip Girl has its strong moments it also has its lows as JC needs a rival to heat up the drama the within the group tension at times may lead the end of the Squad and we love their diverse come together. Pippa & Bianca better step or a new influencer can come in; Monet (Portrayed by Savannah Lee Smith) seems next in line and it will be nice to see her go against the influencer she helped establish. So far Season 1 served and Part 2 proved that GG is here to stay and she's bringing a fire that roasts to delicious. Julien teaming up with Gossip Girl is another lovely surprise, that scene was spine chilling. 🔥🔥 I was gasping for air, when the screen faded to black I was like "Julien Calloway who are you?" The build up to this moment finally makes sense, with how Julien was conflicted with herself. Exciting times indeed.
We hope for more and more Seasons. 4.9/5 stars. As the show progresses you enjoy it more and more.
I can't mention all the characters but Aki, Max, Nick, Jordan, Wendy & Obie are fun characters too that give you a diverse world where friendship, parenting, workmanship and how we live comes to play with the decisions we make. Nick Lott & Davis Calloway (Portrayed by Johnathan Fernandez & Luke Kirby) dad their tension is very interesting..how in the end they come through for their daughters and unite so no more bad blood can be maintained. Max being the wild child who ends up maturity and longing for something real and Aki who finally breaks free from innocence to having an opinion and standing up for himself. Obie is more a not so Noble O. He may do good like giving back, campaigning but he's an undecided jerk who thinks he's all that and he's never wrong. Coming between sisters and watching them fight, not forgetting what he did to his own sister, yeah how Noble. He's worse than Gossip Girl.
While fans of the original weren't happy some were, they welcomed it with love. Monet De Haan (Portrayed by Savannah Lee Smith) & Luna La (Portrayed by Zión Moreno) are characters that fans demand more screentime for.
