Local.Song Of The Week: It's a Wonder by DJ Popx

Kanego Mashile I best known as DJ Popx a Radio Presenter, DJ and now a Producer. He also has a music movement which he turned into a clothing brand: LeDeepLife which is for matured ears. A colorful and complimentary tone that is stylish and appealing. He released his debut single after giving us mixes and performing at popular clubs like Club 81 @AnjosSquare 

The song is laid-back, sounds very relaxing and it has a steady pace to it, accompanied by echoes and vocal effects that may sound out of place but actually work with the song. The song has a promising energy and vibe to it, that makes it dancefloor friendly and also one song that has a therapeutic feel to it. 

We asked him a few questions about the single and what he's planned for the future and more

MCK!NG: What inspired the release?

DJ Popx: (chuckles) You don't waste time.. 

So I only started production (on) late October this year, had one told me before then I'll be having my own music I would have probably told them to re-throw those bones because I didn't see this coming. Within a week of being in FL Studio I had already completed 'It's a Wonder ' a number of reasons were in play for me not to release it then. Firstly I wasn't sure if this was just a once in a lifetime miracle or I was really that good to have a nice tune in that short space of time after learning how to put together a song, so I told myself that until I make another song equal or greater than 'It's a Wonder ' I will not release the track. Another reason I delayed a bit was I felt as much as It's a good song, I still have a lot of room for improvements, there are a lot of sounds I haven't touched which might be even nicer. (Laughs) if my inner being were in perfect sync I would have realesed the song probably next year.

MCK!NG: Wow so you tried out FL s

Studio and magic happened? Impressive. 

What has been the reception been like from music peers?

DJ Popx: The music is well received and I am very happy with the response, I've been getting compliments and words of encouragement. One of the biggest milestones was when Andy Moh told me this is where I belong after I sent him the track for (a) review. I have people subscribing on my youtube channel 'Dj Popx' listening to my craft and also downloading on other platforms. It's just amazing looking at those numbers grow and think to myself;  people are taking their time to listen and download my craft.

MCK!NG: You do deserve it and what do you have planned for 2022?

DJ Popx: It's going to be a musical year...I already have other projects ready for public consumption, first I need to follow all the regulations in place to be an artist in South Africa. (Chuckles) because everything happened so fast, I was like let me introduce my craft, will be back to the regulations later😅. I am also looking forward to collaborating with other artists and producers.

MCK!NG: Ooh we cannot wait. And tell us about the Lee Deep Life movement? What's it about?

DJ Popx: So LeDeepLife is all about people who love good music. People with a good ear for music hence "Matured Music For Matured Ears" And there is till a lot more from the movement that will come to surface very soon, but we will spare the details for our next piece😃.

MCK!NG: So no new merchandise to promote the single?

DJ Popx: There should be any? (Laughs)  Bro I'm barely a month old in this field, but I guess alot of things will happen on my next releases, which will be after I'm done with all the registration process, There are things I cannot do currently until I'm done with the process.
