Mzansi Avenue: Artist On Feature: Mack

Mzansi Avenue: Artist on Feature: Mack

This Week's artist on Feature is Mack. We sat down with him to talk about new music, working with Jay Cracker and King Melonator. Challenges and More Here's what went down;

Mcking: Welcome To Mzansi Avenue and thank you for joining us. How are you?

Mack: Thanks for the warm welcome, I'm good thanks and you? well Mack is a guy born and raised in acornhoek bushbuckridge in a small village called Mapaleng I'm a Rapper, Singer-Songwriter and I also produce so all in all I prefer calling myself a musician cause I do music I don't have a main genre so I can't classify my self as a rapper cause when I feel like singing I just sing the whole song.

Mcking: That's amazing, I'm fine thanks and what inspired you to make music?

Mack: Well I always had the passion to write cause I use to write poems at an early age, growing up I use to listen to rap music; the likes of 2pac, Eminem, Proverb, Jay Z and B.I.G, those OGS inspired me to start witting my own music 'cause I know I have a lot of stories to tell and the best way to deliver my messeges is through songs. So I get inspired by a lot of things; the challenges we face on daily basis is something that also inspire me to tell those stories through music cause I realise people pay attention when you tell your stories with a beat on

Mcking: Wow, music is indeed a powerful tool of communication.
As a musician what's your biggest challenge?

Mack: My biggest challenge as a Musician is reaching people and building a loyal fan base, being from the rural areas where people don't believe in local talent is hard, it makes it more difficult to get people to notice your art and just give you their time 'cause honestly music wise the sound I do is really Good and the quality of music I put out there is nice, our problem is getting a loyal fan base and growing from there other than that we're taking it one step at a time and growing on daily basis and trying to get as much people to start noticing the music I do and see how passionate I'm about my art.

Mcking: A wise someone once said we should never give up because of what others do but keep pushing and I applaud you for not giving up. You released a song on February 14th, earlier this year and it's been well received, did you expect it to do so well?

Mack: I always believe in the music I do because I take more time working on it and making sure I give out the best of me and even more but the love I received after my song khetha [was released] featuring Lizzy Khaled was overwhelming I didn't expect such a response, that song made new people to recognise my music and I've been getting more love from people who never knew I do music so I can say the love I got was expected but not to this point where I get messages from people on my DMs [asking] when am I dropping new music and I'm getting more features from other artists willing to work with me and I'm thankful for the support I have been receiving it gives me that strength to wanna work even more harder on my music.

Mcking: Which is a great thing, you're getting recognition for your talent and hard work. Hopefully you get discovered by a big label that'll give you the platform to shine globally. You recently shared snippets of new music with Artists like Jay Cracker, are you working on an EP?

Mack: Actually I'm working on Two extended plays MINE which is due to drop around August/September and the second one is a a joint Ep with Jay Cracker which will drop any time from now 'cause we're left with a few songs to wrap up on the EP. Me and my friend King Melonator have been having talks about dropping D.O.P.É 2 Ep so I will be working on a lot of music this year which was the aim since January to work more and grow more as an artist so far all is going well plus On the 20th of may I'm dropping two new songs.

Mcking: Wow this is exciting, more music, collaborations and speaking of collaborations, what's it like working with Jay Cracker and Melonator? What have you learned from them?

Mack: Working with this two guys is always fun we more like family so it's more easy to work with them and they are humbled I learn a lot from these guys as my brothers they are the ones who always force me to drop my music telling me to stop sleeping on myself; I'm good (laughs) actually these guys do have ways to push me to work even more harder and also my brother my producer Black12 'cause he's also behind me  before everyone else and he been with me every step and most of my beats are made by him and the engineering of my sounds since I started making music, songs  like Zaka and Heineken to Khetha. he always been the man behind everything and I respect the nikka so much 'cause he been with me through this music journey it will be wrong of me to never acknowledge my nikka, my brother 12 c'ause he did a lot for the Prophat Brand.  Me and the guy made hits for my brand together and we're still making more and my upcoming track titled Phanda ft Shinzo; he is behind the sound, shout out to him I will never leave him behind in everything I do. 😇💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Mcking: That's truly great, having people who support you and want you to do what you love, big ups to them. With the songs dropping on May 20th what can we expect?

Mack: Expect the best quality sound and something to keep everyone vibing I'm dropping one Drill song and an Afro Pop song, I will announce the features this week. I had these songs lying around and I think it's time I give it to the people so music wise I'm pretty positive, the songs are relevant and something that will make people to know that I really put my heart to this music 'cause all the singles have my soul and hard work on them so expect nothing but good music from Me and my Team.

Mcking: We cannot hear the music. And is it available on streaming sites?

Mack: Yes the music will be available on SlikourOnLife and YouTube those are the streaming platforms we will be using, 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕then will expand to other sites at a later stage.

Mcking: Good to know.
And any advice you have for anyone who wants to make music?

Mack: My advice to all people doing music is to keep on doing what you love never stop cause of what people might say or discourage you just keep your head up and do what you love it will be worth it at the end and this music game needs patience and dedication you must learn to be patient that's all I can say.

Mcking: Thank you for joining us. All the best with your music and God bless
We cannot wait to hear the new music. We'll let it play on and on and on.

Mack: Thank you I appreciate and thanks for this interview my God bless you and grow from here.
