So who is Phetulo Bango? What does he do?

Phetulo: Ok cool, Bango Phetulo; he's 26 years of age young energetic man bushbuckridge youth development etc, also running a youth organisation, the founder and centre manager of the project named Cottondale Youth Development Centre (CDYC)

Joined a youth organisation called Love Life as a Mpintshi and became a groundbreaker for a few months. Mcking: What's your daily motivation?

Phetulo: Ok like always note that one door when it closed that doesn't mean all the other doors are closed keep on pushing keep on knocking you will succeed.

Mcking: That's definitely true.

What are your positive influences in life?

Phetulo: To influence people in a positive way, be authentic, rather than being a carbon copy of someone else’s version of authenticity, uncover what it is that makes you unique for me that's a positive influence of being true to yourself.

Mcking: That's good to be in a position of standing out and radiating good energy to others and yourself.

What has been the most challenging obstacle in your life and how did you overcome it?

Phetulo: Mmmh yoooo!! being neglected by the people whom I used to believe in or them to help [Me] so I overcame this in this way of keeping on asking from others also because I know.... I'm good in networking or selling my self to another person. That's how I overcame this.

Mcking: That's good, reaching no matter who says no and turns a blind eye to your potential until someone gives you the opportunity to shine. Who are your role models and why them?

Phetolo: Kwenisto Makgakga and Clement Maosa. Well they inspire me with everything they are doing.

Mcking: What are your favourite things to do?

Phetulo: Well I love the spotlight (laughs) my favourite thing is to help others, like even my own projects can be left behind [because I'll be] fighting to help other people. I love modelling by the way, it's another favourite thing to do.

Mcking: The spotlight does make us shine. What's your main goal in life? What great thing do you want to be known for?

Phetulo: To be a great businessman, see my community project running all the time. projects like; youth centres both [in] cottondale and Buffelshoek. vlibraries in both villages, being a successful spokesperson,a leader,a developer and a caring husband to my family.

Mcking: That's beautiful and may you reach that goal. You're already working towards the achievement. Andwhat do you love about yourself?

Phetolo: Mmmhh (chuckles) 😊 I'm humble, [I'm] such a caring person and adorable.

Mcking: Indeed you are. Please tell us about your organisation, when was it founded, why this organisation?

Phetolo: Mmmh ok cool, well COTTONDALE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTRE is a nonprofit organisation which is devoted in bringing a change in the youth lifestyle also in the community, and the organisation the past two years has won the best nonprofit organisation in bushbuckridge as whole under bushbuckridge municipality 2019 and also won another one from department of education cottondale circuit same year

The project started the year 2016 cottondale village under Mnisi tribal council.

1. Educational tour

... To take learners visit prison and Kruger national park

Mcking: This is brilliant, I'm amazed, you've accomplished so much, big ups to you man and how does one be part of this organisation

Facebook Bango Phetulo

Mcking: Thank you.

And what's the feedback like that you've received from the community and those who've volunteered?

Phetulo: Well "good and lovely initiative" they said and those who volunteered they never volunteer for 4 months because once we get a post vacancy post we share with them and they do get a job that's what's lovely about us we have already helped 4 young people who now have jobs.

Mcking: That's amazing. We're happy you're doing great work. We need more people like you. And since you're a father, do you think running an organisation has helped you be a better father to your daughter?

Phetulo: I believe so even though it's completely different but we learn from what we do everyday and the many lessons do help. And there's another program that's not free of charge, I offer my services to entrepreneurs and others.

Mcking: Can you tell us about this other project?

Phetulo: Yes

Programs like

- How to register a busines?

- Writing of funding proposal.

- The mind of an effective business executive.

- Tax and legal compliance for NPOs and NGO.

- Fundraising in difficult times.

- Professional networking and sharing business resources.

- Effective governance and Board development. And I also offer classes.

Mcking: You're empowering and equipping others, kudos to you man, how much do you charge?

Phetulo: R250 per organisation, per business for a 3 days workshop then for a special workshop we negotiate. I also draft business plans and help with proposals.

Mcking: And what are the challenges you've been met with concerning the organisation?

Phetulo: Well with rent and office space, we've had trouble with that but we'd draft a letter to stakeholders for assistance.

Mcking: That's awesome. What empowering wise words can you share with anyone who wants to start a business or an NGO to help people in nee

Phetulo: Never give up and never feel like you won't make it in life or in your business ideas you want to start,go for it remember business it's all about taking the risk you might profit you might lose,in NGOs you might get sponsors you might not so don't also give up. Keep pushing.

Mcking: Perfectly said and what are your top 5 things to do for fu

Phetulo: Ohhh (laughs) not sure but I think this does it for me...

- Crowded places with youth talking about life, I love it when we get together and engage.

  - Tours, I love traveling.

  - Spending time social media.

  - Family Chat at home, bonding as a family

  - Modelling
