Sportsman Of The Week: JD Mcdonagh 


This week on Avenue Sports we have JD McDonagh (Jordan Devlin) who is an Irish professional wrestler currently performing on the NXT brand, a developmental territory in WWE best known for impressive wrestling matches, amazing storylines and where stars are born before their big push to the main roster (Raw/Smackdown).

Before being on the main NXT brand he had was on NXT UK, dedicated to British-Irish wrestling where he won the WWE Cruiserweight championship and is the longest reigning champion to date. During his time on NXT UK he was involved in various feuds before it went on hiatus in 2022.

Recently on NXT, he's been feuding with longtime rival IIja Dragunov and they've been putting on quite a show as their recent match a week ago on an episode of NXT was well received by attendees, wrestling critics and viewers around the world with a "This is wrestling" chant heard throughout. One of the best matches we've seen this year. WrestleMania worthy match. The future is promising for both stars as we're excited for what's coming next.

April 1st at  The NXT:Stand & Deliver event he's participating in a fatal-5 way match for North American Championship going up against the Wes Lee. Dragon Lee. IIja Dragunov & Axiom which promises to steal the show. 

JD McDonagh is a talented in-ring workers and is really good on the microphone. He's put on some really amazing matches. We can't help but appreciate this future World Champion.
