My Pick Of The Week: Dollface On Hulu
My Pick Of The Week: Dollface On Hulu
This week on My Pick Of The Week we have: Dollface starring Kat Dennings. Brenda Song. Shay Mitchell & Esther Povitsky.
Created by Jordan Weiss
The first season revolves around Jules Wiley who after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend has to rebuild broken friendships and socialize again. We go through a series of events that lead to growth, discovery, womanhood, sisterhood and so much more. The beauty of this show is how clever it is with its writing, insanely creative scenarios and moments that are relatable enough to inspire you. As a guy I enjoyed every moment of it. It's a must watch.
My biggest disappointment is finding out that it got cancelled, like why? Why do the good shows get the boot? Can we get more seasons? I feel like such a show deserved a lengthy run as it carries a powerful impact with humorous, witty and brilliant writing plus performances. One of the characters I related with the most was Madison Maxwell (Portrayed by Brenda Song) she's into PR and comes across as the one who restructures people but yet sticks to the same pattern herself. Replacing the same outfit with the same outfit. Scared of change and holding on to the same thing again and again. Each character offered insight and massive energy. Izzy was a nod to all the girls that felt like outcasts or are seen as too much too soon while she's just someone lovable and sincere who felt like an alien until she met Stella. Jules & Madison.
The opening theme song is solid, love it to bits. Dollface is a must watch. I miss my weeknights watching episodes having a good laugh or shedding a few tears. This is one show I'll campaign gets a third season because it is necessary.
Do Check it out. Subscribe to Hulu and enjoy a world of imagination. friendships. Romance. Self discovery and so much more. Not forgetting the talking cat lady. She's a vibe.
