TEXT: [NLT] 1 SAMUEL 1:2
Elkanah had two wives, Hannah and Peninnah. Peninnah had children, while Hannah did not.
Praying through is very much expedient when one ought to make a notable progress but couldn't make it due to an unknown circumstance. The progress of a woman is to later become a mother. Elkanah had two wives who ought to make progress to become mothers but only one became a mother while the other could not because the Lord had shut up her womb. Hannah knew she wasn't making progress as a wife because she ought to have become a mother just like her rivalry. In life, there is a certain level of progress that you have to make in order to measure up to a notable societal standard which can be in terms of education, marriage, etc. Certain circumstances might not allow you to make notable progress in life but if you can pray through, you will definitely break through such circumstances and begin to move forward.
According to the focal scripture for today's devotional message, Elkanah had two wives who had to make progress to become mothers but only one could make progress to become a mother while the other could not. Hannah had to pray until the Lord intervened in her situation and she began to make notable progress. Hannah was a woman for so many years but barrenness stopped her from making the progress that would make her become a mother. On a day like this, Hannah went before the Lord and prayed until she prayed through. Hannah prayed and the Lord gave her what she requested for. Everyone thought she won't be able to become a mother but she eventually became a mother and had a consistent progress.
The consistent progress that Hannah had as a mother didn't stop at becoming a mother once, the Lord gave her five more proofs that she had what it takes to become a mother. Hannah had a womb but she couldn't have a child because the Lord had shut it up. However, when Hannah prayed to God, the closed womb opened up and that was the begining of her breakthrough and an ever consistent progress. Hannah prayed just one prayer and the people that had laughed at her ended up laughing with her. Hannah prayed just one prayer and the people that had mocked her for being barren ended up congratulating her for being fruitful. The prayer that Hannah prayed was not an ordinary prayer but an earnest prayer. It is time for you breakthrough as well but you have to prepare yourself to pray through. God still answers prayer and I can assure you that as you pray to Him, He will give you whatever you ask of Him.
PRAYER: Father, I thank You for Your Word. Now that I know that certain circumstances might not allow me to make notable progress in life until I pray through. Please Lord, help me to pray through so that I can have my own breakthrough and begin to have a consistent progress in Jesus Christ name.
