Star Of The Month: Warren Khosa
Star Of The Month: Warren Khosa
At the age of 26 Warren is a travelling inspiration, hitting the road, impacting and empowering lives. We had an amazing chat with him and here's what went down:
McKing: Who is Warren Khosa and what is he all about?
Warren: Warren Khosa is a 26- year old guy from a village called Huntington which is adjacent to the renowned Kruger National Park, I am in the humanities field working for a non-profit foundation around as their Liaison officer. I am all about development and change, it humbles me to see people working hard to develop themselves, communities being developed from collaborative initiatives and the world be modelled to be a safe place for everyone including people who are disadvantaged or living with disabilities.
McKing: Wow that's truly amazing. How did you become the person you are today? What was the process like?
Warren: The process included more of some learning and unlearning of the things that I confused life to be and to aligning myself to the greater purpose of life. Prayer, meditation and networking have help built the person that I am today. It isnt an easy process but consistency has always won.
McKing: It's never easy, big up to you. What are some of the challenges you experienced that empowered you?
Warren: Being abused by my boss from my former employer, this has empowered me to be a better leader, to learn and master people's personalities and strentghs, and to always show kindness.
McKing: We're sorry you had to go through that, you took your pain and turned it into power. As someone who's very vocal, has that landed you in hot water with friends or it sparked conversations people are scared to have?
Warren: My friends are very open-minded and have mastered the person that I am (very vocal you say) so even if the conversations could land us in hot waters, they are good approaches to still keep us calm. I love hearing opinions from others as we have difficult coversations so I get to learn from them.
McKing: You love travelling and enjoy the finer things in life, what's your go to destination and what kick-started this amazing journey?
Warren: I think for now being based in Hazyview which is the centre of most tourist attractions is a flex, I get to go to so many beautiful places around.
The journey was started by my friend Mbali, who is a travel enthusiast who tagged me along as a her plus one and thats how it was kick-started
McKing: Shout out to Mbali, quite the experience huh? What are your top 5 must go to places? Why?
Warren: Madikwe Hills Private Game lodge ( best wildlife sightings and their rooms are so spacious)
Lion Sands Game Reserve (best service and very knowledgable people ever)
McKing: Now I know where to visit, thank you. Your styling tip? Share, it may come in handy.
Warren: Dress for your body and be creative with the clothes you choose.
McKing: Said it like a true fashionista. What's the most sentimental thing you hold close to your heart?
Warren: The sunrise and sunset of my late Friend Natasha.
McKing: May Her Soul rest in Peace. Who are your influences and why?
Warren: Mama Creseldah Ndlovu (hardworking, humble and very innovative and powerful woman)
Prince Sibuyi (Consistent and very accountable leader)
McKing: 5 things you can't go a day without?
Warren: My phone, I think this is the only thing that will take the 5 things🤣....
McKing: We know what you mean (chuckles). Which song is always on your playlist?
Warren: Ungukuphila by Xolly Ncwa
McKing: A playlist essential it is. Who is your celebrity crush?
Warren: Linda Mtoba & Langa Mavuso.
McKing: They're such amazing personalities. Would you rather change the world with one wish or meet the love of your life? Why?
Warren: Meet the love of my life, because I am impatiently waiting🏃😂...
McKing: Love is a beautiful thing, Warren's Bae reveal yourself wherever you are. How do people collaborate with you if they're keen on working with you? How do they go about it?
Warren: I am too open to collaboration, I am more of a teamplayer than working as an individual, so people can just hit me up and we can build good collaboration.
McKing: That's amazing. Impressive. What is the one thing that stood out for you this year about yourself or your surroundings?
Warren: My mental health, I have left and continue to ignore anything that affects my mental health and I do everything that keeps me in a good mental state (like attending live gospel shows, I can do that every weekend)
McKing: We're happy to know that your notes to self are attended and committed to. Can you tell us about More Community Foundation? What is it about?
Warren: We are a non-profit organisation working with communities that sits near the protected areas and we work to provide them with long-lasting and meaningful developmental projects that can empower them.
McKing: What great work!! You guys deserve Awards, truly. What projects are you currently working on as part of the organization? And how does one get involved?
Warren: We have ECDs, a digital learning centre and many more projects that seeks to improve people's living standards.
We are always open to host anyone who wants to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. Do let me know when.
McKing: Will definitely do. Thanks for the invite and to everyone looking to be part of this, here's the opportunity. What purpose would you like to serve with your work or be known for?
Warren: I wanna be known as a connector, that will link up businesses, projects, individuals to where they will get their funding, bursaries and support.
McKing: Where have you been? People like you are needed in this day and age. What does wellness mean to you and how important is it? As this month on Mzansi Avenue we're channeling Wellness.
Warren: Wellness to me means being cautioned about any defects in your mind or body, it is very important for people to be on the look out of ways to get their help/wellness.
McKing: Beautiful. Would you rather be stuck in your dream destination or wear the same acclaimed outfit forever?
Warren: Dream destionation🫠
McKing: Always on the go. What are people yet to know about you?
Warren: They are still to know my other talents on events planning and managing, looking into doing business in that line.
McKing: We're definitely rooting for you. You have a fan in Me man. If life was a statement piece what would yours be?
Warren: A vibe called blessed
McKing: Catchy. What's your take on Metrosexuality? Do you think societal standards hurt men more in terms of expression and embrace?
Warren: Yes they do and the only time people will understand this sexuality thing, is when they embark on a journey of learning and unlearning.
McKing: True, as a Pansexual man myself I'm still tip toeing my way around society. What good advice do you have for all the men out there?
Warren: Guard your hearts, it is always fragile like those of women.
