TEXT: [NLT] COLOSSIANS 2:14

He canceled the record that contained the charges against us. He took it and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ's cross.

Just by the death of Christ on the cross, there were so many significant things that happened and one of them was the record containing the charges of sin against you that was completely cancelled. There was a record containing the charges of things we had done by sinning against God but it was all cancelled when Christ was nailed to the cross. There was a record containing the sins of men and it was when Christ was nailed to the cross that the record was cancelled and destroyed. All the condemnations, the shame and the guilt that was in sync with sin had all been cancelled.

According to the focal scripture for today's devotional message, the Bible elucidates what God did to the record that contained the charges against us. God didn't just cancelled the record but also took it and destroyed it. What Christ did for you on the cross was more than just pardoning you of your sins. Christ wasn't nailed to the cross just for you to receive a pardon for your sins but for you to also be established in the righteousness of God that will give you a clean record that is without any charge of sin. If any man is in Christ, his record is now without any charge of sin because he is now established in the righteousness of God and there's no iota of sin in the righteousness.

The record of sin had been replaced with the record of righteousness. God was done having a record to press charges of sin against you and now He is having a new record book to put down your good works. No matter what you had done before having an encounter with Christ, God has cancelled it all and began on a clean slate with you. Now there is no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus. Once you are in Christ, there is no more condemnation and guilt. You are now righteous because you now bear the righteousness of God in you. Now you can live to fulfil the purpose of God for your life. Therefore, let nothing hold you back anymore because the record of your wrongdoings has been cancelled and destroyed.

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for the revelation of Your Word. Now that I know that there was a record containing the sins of men and it was when Christ was nailed to the cross that the record was cancelled and destroyed. Please Lord, help me to walk with You with no adjudging guilt of wrong within me so that I can now walk in the newness of life and live to fulfil Your purpose for my life in Jesus Christ name.
