THEME: THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD!

TEXT: [MSB] MATTHEW 1:21

She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Jesus--"God saves'--because he will save his people from their sins."

Just as God called forth light before He could began to create anything, He brought forth Jesus through Mary to light up this world of darkness and made a way of escape for all men to step out of darkness in order to find their way into His marvelous light. Jesus was given as a name to the Son of God because the purpose that was assigned to Him to fulfil was to come and save His people from their sins. The people Jesus called His own are the people of this world and not His immediate family. So when the Bible says Jesus was sent to fulfil the purpose of coming to save His people from their sins, it literally means that He came to save the world from her sins.

Jesus said in [NKJV] John 3:16 that; For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. The people that God gave His only begotten Son to is the world. God gave His Son to the world so that He can save the world from her sins. Jesus was not sent to come and save a tribe or a nation but was sent to the entire world. Jesus is the Savior of the world. Before Jesus arose and shone His light to the world as her Savior, the world was wrapped up in darkness and all the people therein were also sunk in deep darkness. Jesus took it upon Himself to lay down His life as a ransom to redeem the world from her sins.

According to the focal scripture for today's devotional message, the Bible elucidates how an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him about the son that his wife would bring forth. The angel of the Lord specifically gave him the name the son would bear and the purpose that the child would be coming into the world to fulfil. The name Jesus was given to the Son of God because he was sent to lead the world back to God and find peace with Him. There had been no peace between God and the world before Jesus came but immediately He came and fulfilled His purpose, the world began to find peace with God. Sin is the work of the devil and since Jesus was sent to destroy the works of the devil, He had already conquered sin so that the world can have dominion over sin and live above it. Jesus has made it possible for the world to conquer sin and live above it because He had already fulfilled the purpose that a Savior should fulfil. Glory be to God.

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for the revelation of Your Word. Now that I know that Jesus is the Savior of the world because He came to lay down His life as a ransom to redeem the world from her sins. Lord, I thank You for the precious gift of You. Thank You for saving me from my sins and for the grace I've gotten through You to have dominion over sin and live above it. Glory be to Your Holy name. Hallelujah!
