Welcome to this pop up article.
This Monday night I'll be sharing a bit of insight into reflecting on our moments. We all wanna be someone great in our respective fields or expertise but at times we don't immediately land there. We start somewhere and feel held back, neglecting the preparation before the arrival.
Today you probably made plans to take steps towards your desired goal or you just added something new on your vision board or finally had the courage to take a leap of faith: texting your crush, applying for that job unless you're feeling like all you do is idle. Everyone else seems to have a sense of direction and purpose. They're checking in 5 star hotels, posting those lunch break selfies in their suits and you're just in your uniform as a waiter/waitress feeling like you're not where you're supposed to be. At home and watching everyone win, you're now tired of being part of the clapping audience.
Well we all feel like at that at some points in our lives especially now where someone at 16 can be a huge social media influencer and secure the bag. While some things are proven to be successful when pursued they're not for everyone and you also have to appreciate your humble beginnings, they empower you for a brighter tomorrow, your attitude and willingness play a huge part. Joseph in the bible (check it here Joseph's story) got sold as a slave and felt entitled until he worked his way up the ranks after much betrayal and character assassination so sometimes our not so glamorous progress doesn't mean we won't be a success. I wrote an article about purpose and power which touches on how to identity who you're meant to be. It's exposed by your characteristics, habits and patterns. Someone who's always helping others is most likely a Coach who brings out the best in others. People can come to you and ask for advice, you'd see it as nothing but it foreshadows what you're destined for..
So everyday as you wake up don't try to step in someone's shoes, imagining yourself living their life. Yours is worth living so live it. Don't force your progress, enjoy it. Some are slow cookers, there's stir fry, instant coffee, noodles etc but you need to be able to want to make it without the bitterness because it will hinder you. I'm someone who many behind my back say: "He was hyped up in high school and he hasn't done anything" "He faded into the background, what happened to that guy?" I'm sure if people placed bets on me they'd be disappointed. I looked at it from that view but the growth that has taken place is one I'm thankful for because I'm able to see the bigger picture. It's not how you've made it, it's how you're equipped, so you can thrive. A cake doesn't just get served and everybody talks about how delicious it is. No!! Ingredients come together, a process of combination, mixing and all that flour business, it goes into the oven until it's ready, gets the icing and voila...so don't look at someone's success and see yourself as a failure. Before Bed say those negative affirmations you associate yourself with... write them down, tell someone to read them out loud, see yourself as another person and give yourself advice. You'll realize you want what's best for you so start by not undermining where you are now. I'm not saying sit back and relax, you have to dig deep and pursue who you're meant to be.
If you're a person on Faith ask God who brought you here on earth to guide you and lead you to who you're meant to be. We all need a good steer in the right path. Sometimes the company we keep holds us back. All you ever do with your girls is gossip, why don't you guys get creative and do something. Gossip about job opportunities, sponsorship applications and empower people. It could be a huge movement or about issues people are facing in your community so they can receive help.
There are many ways to make coffee, so do something worth it with your time. Each night reflect on your daily progress, what did you do...where is it taking you? Where are you lacking? What's your strong point?
Such questions help you do better and watch something empowering that goes hand in hand with what you do. It's okay to miss out on trending conversations on social media if they're gonna distract you. I hope this was very helpful.
Goodnight & God Bless.
