DIVINE CONNECTION DAILY DEVOTIONAL BY OLADELE T•E
THEME: REBUKE THE WINDS!
TEXT: [NKJV] MATTHEW 8:25-26
Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!" [26] But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
Not disregarding absolute dependence on God, there are certain things that you have been empowered to do as a Christ believer and one of them is exercising the authority given to you. In [NKJV] Luke 10:19, Jesus said; Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Authority has been given to you by God through Christ Jesus and you are to exercise it when necessary. One of the things you will need to exercise the authority that had been given to you upon are the winds troubling your life. With the authority that had been given to you, you can rebuke the winds troubling your life and they will cease to trouble you.
According to the focal scripture for today's devotional message, the Bible elucidates how Jesus rebuked his disciples for calling him to rebuke the winds and the sea when they had what it takes to rebuke the winds and the sea themselves. What stopped them from exercising the authority that had been given to them was fear. The disciples didn't know that they had the authority to rebuke the winds and that being fearful will hinder them from exercising the authority. It takes faith to exercise the authority that had been given to you by God through Christ and that's to let you know that fear will hinder you completely from exercising it.
The authority given to you by God through Christ Jesus is powered by the word of God and can be launched out by faith. The authority has been given but you have to nurture it with the Word of God and then launch it out by faith when you want to exercise it. The Word of God is the pillar upholding the authority that has been given to you. Without the Word of God, the authority that had been given to you won't make any difference. In Luke 4:1-13, Jesus exercised authority over the devil by the power of the Word. As Jesus kept on launching out the authority by "It is written", the devil couldn't achieve anything. I don't know the winds that had been troubling your life but by the authority given to you by God, you can rebuke them. Stay connected to God's Word and as you exercise the authority given to you by faith, every wind troubling your life will cease.
PRAYER: Father, I thank You for the revelation of Your Word. Now that I know that authority has been given to me by You through Christ Jesus to rebuke every wind troubling my life. Please Lord, help me to stay connected to Your Word so that as I exercise the authority that You have given to me by faith, every wind troubling my life can cease in Jesus Christ name.
