Star Of The Month: Jay Cracker
Star Of The Month: Jay Cracker
Jay Cracker has come a long way since his first introduction and his progress into the music scene is exciting as it has been filled with impressive growth. We had a quick catch up and here's what went down:
Welcome to Mzansi Avenue. Thank you for Joining Us. How are you?
Jay: I'm good thanks and you?
McKing: I'm fine thanks, it's good to have you back here. Where is Jay Cracker and how has he evolved? Since the last time we spoke?
Jay: Jay cracker is still alive. like I've said before, "I am entertainment". The change is at the moment, he is more of a host than an artist, because he is willing break down doors for the artist side of him to be out there.
McKing; So you stepped into different spaces to amplify your music? That's amazing.
How would you best describe your sound?
Jay: My sound is emotion, spiritual and motivational all come alive.
McKing: You definitely channel those elements. You're a very hardworking young man in this hard hitting industry, working his way up. What keeps you going no matter the set back?
Jay: Most of the time it's the situation at home, and wanting to do great for myself, despite what people are saying or believe in.
McKing: Nothing like motivation from where you come from to set you up for a journey determined to success.
What's your favorite song from your discography and why?
Jay: Homeless, Speaking to God and Ain't playing. Because these are the songs which reveal a lot about Me and give people a blueprint on how to deal with themselves. I think that's where I expressed more of myself than just singing or rapping. It's the story of my life.
McKing: Homeless is a brilliant record. It ended up on our Best Songs of 2022 list. What's the best advice you've received so far this year?
Jay: Never let fame get into you. stay focused, people love you now and can take you down tomorrow by just a little wrong move. concentrate, work on your brand and get the price.
McKing: Now that's some good advice. Which Artists/Producers do you want to work with?
Jay: Young Stunna, DJ Maphorisa and Blxckie.
McKing: Those are amazing people in their talents, they've accomplished so much. What are you working on? Any album or EP?
Jay: I'm working on singles but different genres. Hopefully an album will come as well.
McKing: Well we cannot wait to hear it. You've been collaborating with King Driez and Eric Jr, what was it like working them from a creative point of view?
Jay: One thing about it (Is) before creativity, it's the energy between us, it's just so amazing. When they come to channeling their creativity they're talented and so hard working as well. What I love the most is the exchange of ideas on how we should approach these beats when we (are) in studio, we don't rush but we don't waste time too.
McKing: Sounds like you guys are always on beat. Do you see music as your superhero? Why?
Jay Cracker: Yes I do and I believe it's gonna change my life. music brings me joy and peace.
McKing: Good to know. There's the Year End Awards on Mzansi Avenue which are approaching who do you think will take the Artist Of The Year Award?
Jay: I believe I will due to the hard work i've put this year and how rapidly i've grown.
McKing: Wow, we love the confidence and self awareness.
A question on behalf of the ladies, is the rapper single or committed?
Jay: I'm single.
McKing: If you had to choose between Hip Hop and Trap which genre wins?
Jay: Can't say but I love music as a whole I don't have bad energy with certain genres I do everything and listen to any kind of music as long it's musical.
McKing: We're here for that. You've been spotted with Kwesta one of the best selling artists in the country. How did you guys meet? What went down?
Jay Cracker: We met at Kanyamazane at this other event with the likes of Big Zulu and K.O Later on we went to Coyotes Lounge because he was booked there and i was the resident host/MC. so we spend a day together.
McKing: Wow that's awesome. What's your favorite lyrics from all the songs you've written?
Jay: "I gave my heart to the music"
McKing: Indeed you did. If your friends were a popular song which one would they be and why?
Jay: Homeless because it's the song I connect with more.
McKing: What are we yet to discover about you?
Jay: They still gonna discover I'm a true born superstar, organic and achievements (are) still gonna come as well as more success.
McKing: You've been a regular at Cayotes Lounge. How did that kickstart?
Jay Cracker: It started last year when I met King Harris one of the best MCs in Mpumalanga and the main Coyotes host, when he saw me perform at University of Mpumalanga, so I've been with him ever since from then, and he taught me a lot till to this day where I became the Coyotes resident Host/MC. Since he left to joburg to fulfill his dreams.
For me this is the start of my journey to the bigger table. and there's more of greatness to expect from me. I AM THE FUTURE :
Jay Cracker is redefined and focused, he's one to look out for and listen to, do you have him on your playlist? We suggest you do.
